A severe sandstorm in Iraq has hit the country in recent weeks, closing some public schools and offices and suspending flights at Baghdad International Airport. The authorities declared a public holiday for local governments, except for health services. Hundreds of people in the capital and southern cities have gone to hospitals with breathing problems, medical officials said.
