A stampede at a stadium in Guinea killed 56 people
A controversial decision by referees triggered violence and a crush at a soccer match in southeastern Guinea, leaving 56 people dead according to preliminary reports, the government said Monday. The deaths occurred during the final of a tournament honoring Guinea’s military leader Mamadi Doumbouya at a stadium in Nzérékoré, one of the country’s largest cities.
