Argentina submits ‘Argentina, 1985’ to Best International Feature race

The political drama will represent the country in the Oscars.

Argentina has decided which film will represent the country in the race for Best Internacional Feature. The national academy has submitted Santiago Mitre’s political drama ‘Argentina, 1985’.

The film, inspired by true events, follows lawyers Julio Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, who try to build a legal case alongside their young team against the military junta that ruled the country from 1976 to 1983.

‘Argentina, 1985’ debuted in Competition in Venice where it won the Fipresci prize. It stars Ricardo Darin as Strassera and Peter Lanzani as Ocampo.

Director Santiago Mitre also co-wrote the script with Mariano Llinás. Producers are Axel Kuschevatzky, Federico Posternak, Agustina Llambi-Campbell, Darín, Mitre, Santiago Carabante, Chino Darín and Victoria Alonso.
