A major bridge collapsed in the US port of Baltimore early Tuesday morning after a container ship struck it, sending cars and about 20 people plunging into the river below. Rescuers were searching for survivors in the Patapsco River after huge spans of the 1.6-mile-long (2.57km) Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed into the water.
