Bird flu detected in mammals near Antarctica for first time
Avian influenza has infiltrated populations of harbour seals and sea elephants on the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia for the first time, a team of scientists confirmed on Thursday, alarming conservationists as the highly contagious disease has already killed millions of birds around the world.
