Former prime minister Boris Johnson told the British enquiry into COVID that any suggestion he wanted to allow the virus to “break out” was “rubbish” and “completely wrong”. The enquiry has heard testimony from former advisers that Johnson, fearing the impact on the economy, wanted to let the virus spread rather than order another blockade.
