Canada removes nearly 700 tonnes of fishing gear

The storm surge carried away fishing gear such as nets and ropes known as “ghost gear” during Fiona, which reached Canada as a powerful post-tropical storm. This gear, a form of plastic pollution, threatens marine mammals and fisheries.
