After a year-long delay due to COVID-19, the XIX Asian Games officially opened in Hangzhou on Saturday. The Games will be China’s first mega-event since last year’s Beijing Winter Olympics, which were held under strict COVID protocols, with more than 12,000 athletes from 45 countries competing in a colossal programme of 40 sports.
