China’s first atmospheric monitoring station in Antarctica begins operation
China said its first atmospheric monitoring station in Antarctica began operations this week. The move is intended to help monitor changes on the southern continent and support the global response to climate change. Like the U.S., China is expanding its presence in Antarctica and the Arctic to develop polar resources.
