Climate science consultancy advises EU to phase out fossil fuels
The European Union will have to rethink its policy on phasing out fossil fuels if the bloc wants to meet its ambitious climate goals, official advisers said on Thursday. The 27-nation EU was one of the loudest voices demanding a global agreement to phase out fossil fuels at last year’s COP28 climate summit, which ended with a weaker agreement to transition away from coal, oil and gas.
