Countries risk missing a May deadline to agree on a legally binding pandemic control treaty, which would be a blow to future generations, the head of the World Health Organisation said. The WHO said the new pact and a series of updates to existing pandemic rules are designed to strengthen the world’s defences against new pathogens.
