A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck El Salvador
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck about 9 km (6 miles) southwest of La Unión in El Salvador, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said Sunday evening. El Salvador’s civil defence authorities said they had put in place emergency response protocols for the quake, which was felt as far north as Tegucigalpa, the capital of neighbouring Honduras, and as far east as Nicaragua.
