Austria says disaster fund to rise to 1 billion euros
Austria’s federal disaster fund will be tripled to €1 billion and businesses severely affected by the floods will be able to postpone paying taxes, Chancellor Karl Nehammer said. The package of measures comes after central Europe was hit by the region’s worst floods in at least two decades.
