Brazilian prosecutors have asked state oil company Petrobras to conduct more studies before drilling off the coast of the Amazon rainforest, citing the possible effects of extreme weather on tides. An oceanographic technical report commissioned by the federal prosecutor’s office says extreme weather events such as recent droughts in the Amazon could create ‘unpredictable scenarios’.
