Caravaggio portrait on public display for the first time

A portrait by the baroque painter Caravaggio that had been in a private collection since it was discovered more than 60 years ago will be shown to the public for the first time in a museum in Rome. His portrait of Monsignor Maffeo Barberini, who later became Pope Urban VIII in the 17th century, was attributed to him in 1963. Caravaggio died in 1610.
