Chile’s ‘seed guardians’ cultivate and protect forgotten food varieties
A group of farmers and producers in Chile, known as seed guardians, seeks to protect the traditional crops of their ancestors, keeping them safe from industrial agriculture and genetic modification. The guardians collect, exchange and plant hundreds of seeds to preserve forgotten varieties that were historically cultivated by the indigenous Mapuche people.
