Hurricane John weakens and becomes a tropical storm
Hurricane John was downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall on the southern coast of Mexico, the US National Hurricane Centre said. The storm was about 185 kilometres northwest of Punta Maldonado, Mexico, on Monday and had maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h.
