About 3,700 people evacuated from the Malibu wildfire returned to their homes as firefighters made progress in battling the blaze that destroyed at least six homes in the beach community. The so-called Franklin Fire has charred 1,664 hectares of rugged, mountainous terrain and was 30 per cent contained, Cal Fire said.
