Francis Tiafoe defeated his compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic in the first round of the US Open tennis tournament 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Tiafoe remained calm even as the pressure mounted and looked to move forward in a bid to fulfil his promise to win a home Grand Slam after his brilliant semi-final exit two years ago put him firmly on the court.
