UK sets new climate target for 2035

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK would cut greenhouse gas emissions by 81% by 2035 and committed the country to a more ambitious climate target at the United Nations COP29 climate summit. The new target is in line with a recommendation from a committee of climate advisers that said the goal should go beyond the current 78% cut in emissions.
