Variety has calculated the total box office receipts of Hollywood films for 2023 – and found out that for the film distribution 2023 was the highest box office year in recent times. Nevertheless, the absolute record is not a record: in the years before COVID-19, the collections reached 10-11 billion, while now this figure is 8.58 billion.
