Emmanuel Macron comfortably defeated far-right challenger Marine Le Pen on Sunday. Macron scored 58.55 percent in the second round of the presidential election. Macron’s rival, the leader of the far-right National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, received 41.45 percent.
