Hurricane Ernesto regained hurricane strength on Sunday, with the storm causing dangerous back currents on beaches along the east coast of the United States and Canada, the US National Hurricane Centre said. The forecaster also said further strengthening is expected over the next 12 hours, followed by weakening before the cyclone moves into the post-tropical cyclone stage on Tuesday.
