Ashworth has quit as Manchester United’s sporting director after five months

Dan Ashworth has quit as Manchester United’s sporting director after five months in the job by mutual consent, the Premier League club announced on Sunday. The 53-year-old was hired from Newcastle United and arrived in July to loud fanfare. The decision to part ways came after Ashworth met with chief executive Omar Berrada following a 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, according to Athletic.
