Forest fires rage in sugarcane plantations in southeastern Brazil
Forest fires swept through sugar cane plantations in the north of São Paulo state, causing clouds of smoke so thick over nearby cities that authorities had to ban outdoor sports. A Brazilian championship football match was cancelled due to the ban in Ribeirão Preto.
