Japan has announced the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions imposed on Tokyo and 17 other prefectures as the wave of infections caused by the Omicron variant subsides. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the lifting of restrictions effective March 21, along with further relaxation of border measures.
