Shuntaro Tanikawa, a pioneer of modern Japanese poetry, has died at the age of 92. Tanikawa, who wrote the lyrics to the theme song for the Astro Boy animated series, died on 13 November, his son Kensaku Tanikawa said on Tuesday. The cause of his death, in a Tokyo hospital, was old age.
