The wildfire is currently the largest in the United States and threatens several villages high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The blaze burned down countless homes in the Maura Valley, and strong winds on Sunday threatened adobe ranches, churches, chapels, and watermills dating back to the early 19th century.
