Fires in Brazil’s Pantanal wetlands reach record levels
The number of fires in Brazil’s Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland, rose sharply in the first few days of November, breaking the record for the month since monitoring began in 1998, data from space research agency Inpe show. The 2,387 fires recorded by Inpe in early November are already more than double the October figure and account for more than half of the total number of fires this year.
