Forest fire rages in Ecuador’s drought-stricken capital city
A raging forest fire filled Ecuador’s capital Quito with smoke and threatened residential homes. Authorities scrambled to bring the blaze under control at a time when a historic drought has exhausted resources and patience. President Daniel Noboa said armed forces had been deployed to fight the fire.
