Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, the Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval and the Apollo Theater will be honoured at this year’s John F. Kennedy Center Awards. The Apollo, a historic theatre in New York’s Harlem neighbourhood, is the first organisation to be recognised by the Center, which usually honours individual artists or groups in its awards.
