French lawmakers have made abortion a constitutional right
France on Monday enshrined the right to abortion in its constitution. MPs and senators overwhelmingly backed the move, by 780 votes to 72, in an extraordinary joint vote by the two houses of parliament under the gilded ceilings of the Palace of Versailles, near Paris.
