According to a report by the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), large quantities of refrigerant gases are being smuggled into Europe from China and Turkey, jeopardising the global phase-out pact. These are hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a series of chemicals used mainly for refrigeration in industry and retail.
