Global warming, deforestation and fires could combine to accelerate Amazon extinction
Drought and heat waves caused by climate change and other factors threaten to cause the collapse of South America’s lush Amazon rainforest system, scientists said Wednesday in a study that found nearly half of it could be displaced by the tipping point by 2050.
