Half a million Indians are fleeing the floods

More than 500,000 people have fled their homes in northeast India’s Assam state to escape severe flooding caused by pre-monsoon rains that killed seven people, authorities said, warning the situation could worsen. One of the world’s largest rivers, the Brahmaputra, has overflowed its banks in Assam in the past three days, flooding more than 1,500 villages.
