Hamas chief says truce with Israel is ‘close’
The head of Hamas told Reuters on Tuesday that the Palestinian militant group was close to a truce agreement with Israel even as a deadly assault on the Gaza Strip continued and rockets flew into Israel. Hamas officials were “close to a truce agreement” with Israel and the group had passed on its response to Qatari mediators, Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement sent to Reuters by his aide.
