Ian McKellen has revealed that his fat suit “saved” him from more severe injuries after he fell off stage during a London performance in June, though he continues to suffer from “agonising pain” while recovering. The 85-year-old actor, who was playing Falstaff in Player Kings, sustained a chipped vertebrae and fractured wrist from the fall but noted that the padding from his costume protected his ribs and joints.
