Interim Syrian leader promises to rebuild country but faces money shortage
Syria’s new interim prime minister said his aim was to bring back millions of Syrian refugees, protect all citizens and provide basic services, but admitted it would be difficult because of the country’s lack of foreign currency. ‘The treasury only has Syrian pounds, which are worth little or nothing. One US dollar can buy 35,000 of our coins,’ Mohammed al-Bashir told Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera.
