Japan’s nuclear regulators have approved a plan to dump water from the devastated Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the ocean. The water that was used to cool reactors after the 2011 nuclear disaster is stored in huge tanks at the plant, and by July it was more than 1.3 million tons. Regulators deemed it safe to release the water.
