Japan has discovered its first bird flu case of the season, killing
Japan has detected the season’s first highly pathogenic H5-type bird flu at a poultry farm in the south of the country, public broadcaster NHK reported Saturday. Local authorities in Saga prefecture will kill about 40,000 birds at the farm, NHK said, citing agriculture ministry officials, whose names were not released.
