Japan: suicides among women increase for the second year

The number of women who commit suicide in Japan rose for the second year in a row in 2021, although the total number of people who committed suicide in the country fell. The coronavirus pandemic has caused additional stress for women for many reasons, including the loss of jobs in the service and retail industries, where women tend to work.
