Japanese sake recognised as a UNESCO cultural heritage site
UNESCO has recognised Japan’s ancient sake brewing process as ‘intangible cultural heritage’, which producers hope will boost global interest in the centuries-old traditional rice wine that has lost popularity in the country. Japanese representatives attending a UNESCO meeting in Paraguay marked the occasion by sampling some sake.
