Ghostly swarms of jellyfish along Israel’s coast have driven summer swimmers out of Mediterranean waters and prompted warnings about the dangers of ecological imbalances due to climate change. Jellyfish not only sting swimmers and cost the country an estimated $10 million a year in lost tourism, but also clog desalination plants and industrial fishing nets as their seasonal numbers rise.
