Kvitova to miss Australian Open due to pregnancy announcement

Former Australian Open vice-miss Petra Kvitova said Monday she is expecting her first child with husband and longtime coach Jiri Vanek and will miss this year’s first Grand Slam tournament, which begins in a fortnight. Two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova, 33, is not playing in the current tune-up tournaments in Australia, but her name is on the entry list for the Melbourne Park majors, to be held 14-28 January.
