Panama Canal turns to coffee farmers to heal area hit by deforestation and drought
An incentive programme for Panamanian coffee farmers who have planted dozens of trees near the country’s eponymous canal aims to benefit the global waterway, which has recently suffered from a major drought. The programme also seeks to curb the accumulated environmental damage that has contributed to the canal’s declining water level.
