Peru’s glaciers destroyed by climate change
Due to climate change, Peru has lost 56% of its tropical glaciers over the past six decades. Peru is home to 68 per cent of the world’s tropical glaciers, and warming has led to the melting and creation of new mountain lagoons that risk overflowing and flooding, the National Institute for the Study of Mountain Glaciers and Ecosystems said.
