Powerful waves and winds hit Cuba
On Tuesday, an unusually strong cold front hit Cuba’s northern coast as white-capped waves flooded the streets with seawater, causing isolated power outages and littering the capital Havana with rubbish and fallen branches. Wind gusts soared to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometres per hour) in western parts of the island as squalls and strong winds moved south from Florida, which experienced similar conditions earlier this week.
