Sweden Issues Licences to Cull 20% of Brown Bear Population Amid Conservation Concerns
Sweden has approved licences to cull nearly 500 brown bears, or about 20% of the country’s population, in its annual bear hunt starting today, despite warnings from conservationists. The reduction would decrease the bear population to around 2,000, raising fears among wildlife advocates that such extensive culling could threaten large predator populations in Europe.
