Russian forces responded to Ukrainian troops with air strikes in actions that have halted Ukraine’s advance after the biggest attack on sovereign Russian territory since the war began. Ukrainian soldiers stormed the Russian border a week ago which Vladimir Putin said was aimed at improving Kiev’s negotiating position ahead of possible talks.
