Russian court extends detention of US journalist Gershkovich

A Russian court announced that it has extended until 30 January 2024 the detention of Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter who is awaiting trial on espionage charges he denies. Gershkovich was arrested by the Federal Security Service (FSB) on 29 March in the city of Yekaterinburg on charges of espionage, which carries up to 20 years in prison.
